Über die Variierbarkeit hustenerzeugender Reizströme

Abstract
In unanesthetized guinea pigs cough was produced by electrical stimulation through electrodes implanted in the trachea. The relation was determined between intensity, duration and frequency of threshold stimuli. Variation of these parameters within the limits thus determined had no appreciable effect upon intensity and characteristics of the cough. However, the latency between the beginning of stimulation and the cough response increased when affective stimuli approached threshold. Results suggest summation of the afferent stimuli.
