Abstract
Short forms of individual assessment instruments are often used as screening devices which are economical of time and money. Their construction is usually based on empirical maximization of reliability through item selection, but construction is possible utilizing technical manual normative data. Reliability equations are presented here based .on classical true score theory. Validity estimation equations are presented which are especially useful when short forms of revised instruments are created. They can utilize information from the old form validities. Keywords
