SERUM TRANSAMINASE IN PULMONARY DISEASE AND MULTIPLE INFARCTIONS

Abstract
Increased SGO-T levels have been reported most frequently in acute myocardial infarctions. However, elevated values are found in necrosis and infarction of other organs. The present study involving 318 SGO-T determinations confirms their value in myocardial infarction but in addition the same rapid rise and time course of the SGO-T was found in multiple pulmonary and renal infarctions. Increased SGO-T levels can also be found in pulmonary infarction, the elevated levels usually but not always occurring later than in myocardial infarction and rarely exceeding 100 units. This study emphasizes that an elevated SGO-T per se cannot be considered as diagnostic of myocardial infarction.
