UV photoemission studies of yttrium iron garnet

Abstract
Ultraviolet photoemission measurements on thin epitaxially grown layers of n‐ and p‐type conducting yttrium iron garnet have been performed in the photon energy range 7.7–21.2 eV. The samples were cleaned in situ by ion bombardment followed by an annealing treatment. Photoemission spectra were recorded in a 4π geometry using an ac modulation technique. The photoelectron energy distribution curves show the absence of narrow iron 3d states.
