Abstract
An attempt is made to characterize intelligent buildings and to describe them in simple system terms. The services provided by the various building communications subsystems are examined, and the role played by the internal building communications system, which may be regarded as the building's nervous system, is shown. Some examples of intelligent buildings are examined. Keywords
