Abstract
Surprisingly, a phase diagram for the binary system FeCl2·nH2O has never been published. This is partially due to the difficulty of reaching the equilibrium states from these viscous liquids. The absence of a phase diagram has led to misinterpretations in several Mössbauer studies. Using differential thermal analysis and Mössbauer technique, as well as earlier references, we have constructed a phase diagram. In addition to glass and supercooled liquid regions, it has a metastable crystalline phase. Keywords
