Abstract
The size effect in ferroelectric particles is studied within the framework of the transverse Ising model. The range and anisotropy of pseudo-spin interactions are important factors affecting the finite size behavior. For a given ferroelectric, a long force range corresponds to a smaller polarization, a lower Tc and a larger critical size. Due to the anisotropy of the interaction, the polarization distribution is ellipsoidal with the long axis in the polar directionKeywords
