Abstract
Two specimens of Phenacomys cf. intermedius are reported from Gatecliff Shelter, in the Toquima Range of central Nevada. The presence of the heather vole in the central Great Basin at about 5,300 B.P. provides support for Brown's model of the biogeography of Great Basin boreal mammals and suggests that these voles were widespread in the Great Basin during late Pleistocene and early Holocene times.
