THE PSYCHOGALVANIC REFLEX AS RELATED TO THE POLARIZATION-CAPACITY OF THE SKIN

Abstract
The authors discuss technique and results of experiments indicating that the psychogalvanic reflex is due to a change in polarization-capacity of the plasma membranes of the cells lining the sweat glands in the skin. The contraction of the blood capillaries is a reaction following an impulse traveling along the same sympathetic nerve as the impulse to the sweat glands.
