Abstract
Peritumoral edema associated with 76 supratentorial meningiomas was studied. The results of radiological investigation (CT, NMR, Angiography) and histological studies are described and correlated to each other. Mechanical factors alone are not sufficient to explain edema in the majority of the cases. It may be assumed that a secretory activity of the tumor itself also plays a role. The mechanism of this is described and discussed. Keywords
