X-Ray K Emission Spectra of Chromium in Various Chromium Compounds

Abstract
According to Tsutsumi the X-ray non-diagram line K β' and the asymmetry of the K α line are derived from the exchange interaction between the electrons of the incomplete 3 d shell and those of the incomplete inner shell owing to the emission of the X-rays. Then the variations with valences are expected in the energy differences between the K β 1 and K β' lines, the intensity ratios of the K β' to K β 1 lines, and the indices of asymmetry of the K α line of chromium from the various chromium compounds with different numbers of 3 d electrons. Experiments were carried out on these values in question with fluorescent X-ray method. The experimental results support this consideration to the origins of the K β' line and the asymmetry of the K α line and agree to the order of magnitude with the values calculated from the exchange interaction.
