Abstract
The precise pathophysiologic mechanisms underlying myocardial malperfusion following the restoration of epicardial blood flow are unknown, and are likely to be multifactorial. Several abnormal processes have been proposed to account for impaired myocardial perfusion.4 Microvascular dysfunction is a well documented component, but the extent to which “reperfusion injury” (which implies a detrimental impact of reperfusion per se) is clinically relevant remains unclear. Keywords
