Abstract
In suitable solvents, methyl 2-cyano-3-(5-phenylsulphonyl-2-furyl)-acrylate reacts with nucleophiles, e.g. piperidine, pyrrolidine, morpholine, N-phenylpiperazine, N-methylpiperazine, N-benzylpiperazine, hexamethyleneimine, dimethylamine, diethylamine and sodium azide, to afford products of nucleophilic substitution of the phenylsulphonyl group at the position 5 of the furan ring. The course of the nucleophilic substitution has been monitored kinetically. Keywords
