Abstract
It is widely experienced that the accurate measurement of space potential in gas discharges by means of a Langmuir probe is rather difficult. The glowing probe is introduced to solve this difficulty. It has a mechanism for producing an auxiliary glow discharge and emits electrons from the probe surface into the plasma to be measured. The space potential is given as the separating point of the two probe curves measured with and without the auxiliary glowing current.
