Abstract
Linearly polarised 30 GHz signals received from the ATS-6 satellite have shown abrupt reversals in the crosspolar phase during lightning. The variations in crosspolar phase in the absence of lightning show a wider spread during heavy rain than during periods when the depolarisation was not accompanied by significant copolar fading. Keywords
