Classification of Spectra of K, Ca, Sc, Ti, V and Cr and Extrapolation to Fe Solar Flare Lines

Abstract
Potassium, calcium, scandium, titanium, vanadium and chromium emission lines are classified in the same isoelectronic sequences as Fe XIX to Fe XXIII. Most of the lines identified belong to the 2pn–2pn–13d or 2s22pk–2s 2pk+1 transition arrays. The data presented permit the calculation of the wavelengths of Fe XIX to Fe XXIII emission lines which are emitted from solar flares. Experimental data are based on spectral observations of plasmas generated when the output of a 4 GW laser is focused on to solid targets.
