An Interferon Appearing in Cell Cultures Infected with Measles Virus.

Abstract
An inhibitor of viral activity in vitro appears in human amnion and HeLa cell cultures inoculated with live measles virus. The inhibitor has been separated by centrifugation and differential filtration from infectious particles and complement fixing antigens. It is not neutralized by measles antiserum. It does not inactivate the virus when mixed with it, but reduces cytopathic changes as well as quantity of virus produced. Its chemical and biological properties in general are similar to those of interferons induced by other viruses but in certain respects it differs from them, notably in resistance to ether treatment.
