Abstract
The linearity and absolute detection efficiency of several different plastic scintillator‐phototube combinations have been determined for photon energies between 1 and 10 keV. Fluorescent x‐ray techniques were used to provide monochromatic photon beams which were allowed to impinge on the scintillator or, alternately, on a proportional counter monitor. Indications were obtained of nonlinear photoelectron/photon response for photons having energies less than a few keV. Clearly nonlinear behavior was obtained for conversion efficiencies expressed as photoelectrons/keV of photon energy absorbed. Keywords
