Abstract
The desire to explore the relationship between the psychological construct known as locus of control and environmental action or environmentally responsible behavior has been progressing since the late 1970s. The Revised Perceived Environmental Control Measure is purported to be a reliable and valid instrument to measure the relationship. After minor modifications, the measure was administered to 751 university students to assess the claims of reliability and validity. Concurrent, construct, and face validity and internal consistency were analyzed. Neither construct validity nor internal consistency were supported by the data. Concurrent validity was statistically significant but very weak. These results indicate that the RPECM is in need of extensive refinement. Keywords
