The evaluation of efficacy and safety of cefotaxime: a review of 2500 cases

Abstract
Reports of patients' treatment with cefotaxime collected by the Medical Departments of Hoechst AG and Roussel Uclaf now exceed 3000 cases. An analysis of information concerning indications, dosage and routes of administration with overall results is given. More detailed results concerning the clinical success of cefotaxime treatment are given in cases of lower respiratory tract infections, meningitis, septicaemia, and in paediatrics as well as in patients with renal insufficiency. Treatment failure and sideeffects, possibly associated with the administration of the drug, are reviewed.
