Abstract
A theory of the machining of fiber-reinforced materials is pre sented. The analysis is restricted to plane deformations of incom pressible composites reinforced by strong parallel fibers. Complete deformation and stress fields, as well as estimates of the forces re quired to maintain continuous machining, are derived. The results apply to both elastic and plastic stress responses. Keywords
