Serological Studies with Bovine Ureaplasmas (T-Mycoplasmas)

Abstract
Recently isolated bovine ureaplasma (T-mycoplasma) strains [77] were compared by the growth inhibition test with previously reported strains. The complex serological nature of the group was confirmed. Only 5 of the fresh isolates did not react with antisera to the 8 representative bovine strains proposed previously. The suggestion that the serological diversity of the group might be represented by a small number of strains was confirmed. Eleven strains are proposed as representatives of this serological diversity. No common antigens were shown between Ureaplasma urealyticum, the ureaplasmas of human origin, and the bovine isolates.
