Abstract
DISSCUSSIONS of the relation between position and respiratory symptoms in congestive heart failure are usually centered about the symptom of orthopnea. The purpose of the present report is to describe the effect of position on another manifestation — that is, periodic breathing.Material and MethodsFifteen experiments were carried out on patients with chronic cardiac decompensation. Their ages ranged from thirty-four to seventy-three years; all but 1 were men.
