Abstract
A comparison of self-consistent charge distributions and density of states for elemental bcc copper and zinc and ordered CuZn shows that in the compound, a net flow of electronic charge from zinc to copper occurs and a -band narrowing of a factor of 2 results from the decrease in overlap between like atoms.
