Abstract
A case of intestinal obstruction is reported due to an enterolith formed within a Meckel's diverticulum associated with an adhesion and a trapped loop. Forming a cast of the lumen of the diverticulum, the enterolith, measuring 35 mm. in diameter (Fig. 3) was discharged into the ileum, precipitating the obstruction. Only the 12 mm. central core of the enterolith was visible on the preoperative roentgenogram. This is the fourth reported case of this unusual form of intestinal obstruction and the name "Meckel's stone ileus" is proposed to describe the syndrome. A laminated calcification in the right lower quadrant in the presence of small bowel obstruction should suggest this additional diagnostic consideration. Keywords
