Abstract
The rest potential of the front side of a Pt foil diaphragm in O2‐saturated acid solution was recorded while the back side of the foil was anodized at a constant current. The rest potential of the front side rose to a value of 0.05V less noble than the reversible value of 1.229V. This behavior is caused by the increase of dissolved oxygen in Pt produced by anodization which affects the rate of the local cell on the front side. From the effects of foil thickness on the rest potential, a value for the diffusion of oxygen along the grain boundaries in Pt was estimated at .Keywords
