Abstract
The breakdown voltage of air-saturated transformer oil has been measured as a function of gap settings between a point and an aluminium-sphere electrode. By using a sufficient range of gap settings, it is shown that the presence of an electrolytically formed anodic oxide film on the spherical electrode markedly affects the polarity dependence of breakdown-voltage/gap-length characteristics. Keywords
