Grass Pollen Extracts IV. The Biological Activity of Rye Pollen Extracts and their Fractions

Abstract
Testing by prick on the skin of sensitive subjects showed (1) that aqueous extraction removes most of the reactive material from the pollen; (2) that little or no active material is lost by dialysis of aqueous extract; and (3) that reactivity was not restricted to any single fraction prepared by Johnson and Thorne. Immune sera were obtained in rabbits against 3 fractions produced by electrophoresis. By precipitation, agglutination with antigen-coated tanned erythrocytes and inhibition tests, it was shown that at least 3 antigenic components were present in various proportions in these fractions.
