Abstract
Fresh, turgid kernels of corn are carefully cut from the cob and fixed in a chrome-acetic-formalin formula. Dehydrate in dioxane and gradually infiltrate with parowax, then transfer to a compounded casting wax. Fasten imbedded kernel to a plastic block, shave the wax from the cutting plane and soak for 12-24 hrs., at 35[degree] C, in water containing a trace of safranin or other dye. Mordant starch grains in 1% tannic acid plus 1/2% K metabisulphite. Various stains can be used.
