Molecular-based optical devices

Abstract
A brief overview is presented of recent advances in the investigation of materials for the development of all-optical logic devices using nonlinear, bistable and threshold materials. The emphasis is on organic materials because of their flexibility, processability, and strong potential for future growth. These materials make possible the development of novel architectures capable of rapid parallel information processing and suitable for applications such as artificial intelligence, neural networks, and pattern recognition.
