Abstract
A case of dissecting aneurysm is reported in which necrosis of the spinal cord and vertebral bodies occurred. This is the 9th case of spinal cord necrosis, and it is believed to be the first case of vertebral body necrosis ever reported as a complica-tion of dissecting aneurysm of the aorta. It is postulated that necrosis in structures supplied by intercostal and vertebral arteries will occur in this condition in terms of two variables (1) whether or not an intercostal on lumbar artery bearing a significant anterior radicular branch is occluded, and (2) the functional integrity of the collateral circulation in the particular individual. Keywords
