Fecundity of the Striped Bass, Roccus saxatilis (Walbaum)

Abstract
Fecundity of the striped bass was determined from fish collected in the Roanoke River, North Carolina. Estimated numbers per gram of mature ova did not differ significantly between ovaries or among sections of the same ovary. The relations of number of mature ova to weight, length, and age of fish were examined. Body weight proved to be the best indicator of the number of mature ova; an equation is given for predicting the number of ova from fish weight.
