Abstract
A new ultrasonic measurement system which combines phase-sensitive detection with a computer-driven, four-channel sample-and-hold and analog-to-digital converter device is described. A microcomputer acquires the in-phase and quadrature signals from two acoustic echoes and displays these in the fashion of an x-y recorder. The ultrasonic velocity and attenuation can be calculated and plotted point by point as the run proceeds, and all data are stored for later analysis. Keywords
