Abstract
The various species of Drosophila common in tomato fields were not attracted to animal excrement, but fresh tomato or tomato in the early stages of fermentation is highly attractive. Attractiveness is greatly reduced after decay caused by bacteria and fungi sets in. Starchy fruit (banana) which remains in a state of fermentation for a comparatively long time before decomposing retains its attractiveness longer. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
