Abstract
The type and subtype of a newly isolated strain of influenza virus can be detd. within 72 hrs. after collection of the throat washing from the patient, by use of the complement-fixation test employing "crude" antigens prepd. from fluids and membranes of chick embryos harvested after the 1st passage of the throat washing. Keywords
