Analysis of slab waveguide discontinuities including radiation and absorption effects

Abstract
The vectorial method of lines is applied to the longitudinal discontinuities of slab waveguides. The analysis includes reflections, radiation losses and absorption by lossy dielectrics. In spite of the generality of the analysis the numerical effort is low and implementation on a computer is easy.
