Abstract
The structure of the ferroelectric lowest temperature phase of BaTiO3 (space group R3m) was refined on the basis of 950 single crystal neutron diffraction intensities. These intensities were measured with hot neutrons (γ = 0.5974 Å) at 132K in three asymmetric parts of reciprocal space, to make sure that the rhombohedral symmetry could be accepted. A Rvalue of 0.017 was obtained. Another data set (295 reflexions) was measured at 196 K and refined to a R-value of 0.021 to provide more information about the temperature factors.
