Abstract
The rate of decrease of liver stores of vitamin A and the utilization of dietary or orally administered carotene and vitamin A have been studied in the rat following the feeding of 0 to 20 p.p.m. dieldrin in the diet. Dieldrin produced no abnormal effects on these conditions. Subacute toxic doses of dieldrin administered orally similarly did not directly influence the blood or liver levels of vitamin A. The observed decreases of liver vitamin A following ingestion of high doses of dieldrin are not a direct effect of dieldrin per se but secondary because of inanition. Keywords
