Abstract
An automated pre-concentration method for the enrichment of aluminium from a calcium gluconate matrix and subsequent determination by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) is described. The method is optimised with respect to the chelating exchanger, flow-rate and choice of eluent. Aluminium present at levels as low as 0.1 µg g–1 in a solid calcium gluconate matrix can be selectively pre-concentrated and determined. The method has been applied to the determination of aluminium in pharmaceutical preparations. Keywords
