Abstract
The clinical findings in 175 patients with temporal arteritis are summarized; 42% lost vision in one or both eyes, and 12% had diplopia. If one excludes paresis of the ocular muscles, the incidence of objective neurologic or eeg findings was exceedingly low; the abnormalities that were present probably resulted from involvement of the intracranial or aortic arch arteries. It is concluded that early therapy withadrenocortical steroids is urgently indicated and should not be delayed. Keywords
