Abstract
Switching operations to energise or isolate a transformer feeder result in voltages and currents of complex waveshapes extending from the surge through to the steady-state period. A simulation of the system to allow the prediction of these voltages and currents is described, the transformer representation allowing for the interconnections of windings and core construction. Results from a digital computer program, based on the simulation, are presented for 3-limb, 5-limb and single-phase units. Keywords
