Abstract
π‐electron absorption spectra in the range 14000 to 60000 cm−1, in free‐base phthalocyanine and porphyrin have been calculated using molecular orbitals method. The new transitions beyond the Soret band observed by Schechtman and Spicer [5] and Edwards and Gouterman [6], in phthalocyanines, are explained. Keywords
