Abstract
The drift velocity of atomic helium ions in helium has been measured at temperatures between 294 and 338K in the range 10 Td++He has been obtained for energies in the range 0.3 eVlab<or=8 eV. An investigation of the validity of the analysis indicated that this cross section is in error by less than +or-6% for energies greater than 1 eV and less than +or-8% for energies less than 1 eV. The cross section obtained is compared with recent theoretical calculations and the results from single-beam experiments. Keywords
