Abstract
The case reported is characteristic of melorheostosis in that the lesions were confined to the right upper extremity. The clinical course, with gradual progression and increasing pain, is also typical. Treatment by thoracic sympathectomy gave dramatic relief from symptoms. As far as can be determined from the literature, this is the first form of treatment which has been of lasting value in this rare and painful condition. Keywords
