Abstract
We consider an exactly solvable, one-dimensional model for binding energies of shallow impurities in quantum wells in which the three-dimensional Coulomb impurity potential is replaced by a one-dimensional contact (Dirac δ) potential. We show that many features of previously reported three-dimensional binding-energy calculations are qualitatively reproduced by our model. Keywords
