Abstract
Tyrosine and tryptophan contents in heavy meromyosin and subfragment-1 were determined by several spectrophotometric and chemical methods as follows: 1. The tyrosine content in heavy meromyosin was 21 residues per 105 g protein. This agreed well with results of amino acid analyses performed by Kominz et al., and by Lowey and Cohen. 2. The tyrosine content in subfragment-1 was 26 residues per 105 g protein. This agreed with the value reported by Mueller among three different values published hitherto. 3. The tryptophan content in heavy meromyosin was 5.2 residues per 105 g protein. This is considerably higher than 3 residues reported by Szent-Györgyi. 4. The tryptophan content in subfragment-1 was 6. 7 residues per 105 g protein. Keywords
