Abstract
We discuss the quark-mass dependence appearing in the several renormalization schemes of quantum chromodynamics. Then we introduce scheme-independent quantities which can be used in order to compare different schemes. Finally, by using these quantities we recover the results of effective gauge theories. Keywords
