Abstract
For Acheson 30″ and 18″ electrodes and five kinds of domestic 18″ electrode, tensile strength ST, bending strength SB, Young's modulus E, thermal expansion coefficient α and specific resistance ρ were measured at room temperature. Direct proportionalities of logarithms of ST, SB and E to apparent poro-sity of the electrodes were fairly well. Values of ST/SB and ST/E were approximately same for all electrodes, but thermal expansion coeffi-cients of Acheson electrodes were smaller than those of domestic electrodes. This results in larger values of ST/α⋅E of Acheson electrodes than of domestic electrodes. Keywords
