Exciton-like behaviour in pure metals and alloys

Abstract
The authors report Mg valence excitations in Mg-Li alloys. An analysis of the data suggests that interband excitations at the zone boundary in polyvalent metals bear a close and hitherto unrecognised similarity to excitons in insulating crystals.
