Abstract
Photoabsorption of neon in the region of the inner shell excited resonance series is treated using an optical potential R-matrix method. Compared to standard R-matrix results, an extremely broadened resonance profile is determined, due to implicit inclusion of core Auger decay states via the optical potential, remarkably reproducing recent high-precision experimental results.
